Happy Heart Explorers is a calm, sensory-friendly drama session for home educated children who prefer gentle pacing, predictable routines and quieter imaginative play. We use soft storytelling, movement breaks and warm connection to help every child feel safe, regulated, confident and included.

This class is aimed at children who are home educated and in the equivalent primary school year groups of EYFS-Y4 although this is only guidance and may be suitable for younger/older children than this age. It is suitable for children with Special Educational Needs and is open and inclusive to all children.

Classes are run by a fully-qualified, DBS checked teacher with 18 years of teaching experience.

Here are a few things to keep in mind about this particular class:
• You are encouraged to join in! Parent/carer participation can be a wonderful support for children and you’re very welcome to take part in the activities alongside them.
• If you prefer not to join in, you may stay and watch quietly. To help us maintain a calm environment, please refrain from chatting within the session space. You’re very welcome to use the side room for any conversations or catch-ups with other families.
• If you do stay to watch, please support your child where needed and help reinforce the calm atmosphere throughout the session.
• Of course, all children are welcome to participate in their own way: whether that’s verbalising, vocalising, moving around or simply observing. However, if you’re able to gently support your child in being mindful of others’ needs - particularly around sudden or loud noises - that’s really appreciated, as we do have some children who are very sensitive to this.
• A big part of this class will be encouraging empathy and awareness: helping all children to better understand and respect each other’s needs, differences and ways of engaging.
